Episode #56: On Taking Breaks & Having Nothing to Say [Rebroadcast]

As I release this, on March 26th 2020, the schools and nurseries are currently closed, the UK has been placed on lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus, and I decided it wasn’t time to release the solo episodes I had planned. So instead, I’m re-releasing an episode from last year, all about those times when you have nothing to say, and when you’re not getting much done.

Show Notes

How things can change in the space of a couple of weeks, eh? As I release this, on March 26th 2020, the schools and nurseries are currently closed, the UK has been placed on lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus, and I decided it wasn’t time to release the solo episodes I had planned. So instead, I’m re-releasing an episode from last year, all about those times when you have nothing to say, and when you’re not getting much done.

Please know that this was recorded before any of this stuff happened. I may say things in this episode that don’t quite apply. But I hope it brings some comfort to you during these times. And please know that I am hear for you, come join us in the Quietly Ambitious Business Owners Facebook group where we are all supporting each other to adjust to this new normal. And, honestly, I believe in the power of online business now more than ever. If you want to learn more about how I’m carrying on with business during the crisis then head to my blog where I just shared my thoughts about showing up, selling, and carrying on when things feel very uncertain and different. Anyway, I really hope today’s episode helps. Enjoy!

“It’s ok to have a break. It’s absolutely ok to do nothing”

Some of the things I talked about:

  • Embracing the “fertile void” (and the four phrases of creation by Kate Northrup)
  • Hiding away, having nothing to say, and what it tells us about what we need
  • How I approach taking breaks and not always being consistent in my business
  • Practical tips to make content creation & showing up online easier
  • Knowing when inspiration is needed vs. times when you need to shut out external noise
  • Embracing the benefits of the quiet times

Support for you and your business during this time:
