Listen to the Episode:

selling lots of offers at once, why would you do it? Does it even work? And how can you support yourself to do the best job you can without burning yourself out? I’m gonna answer all of these questions and more. In today’s episode. You’re listening to quietly ambitious with conversations about how it really feels to build a business that honours your whole self unapologetically. And that includes who you are, how you feel, what you really desire, the impact that you want to create, and importantly, the money you want to make. I’m your host, Ruth Poundwhite.

And my superpower is supporting sensitive and ambitious humans to make more money by fully expressing and owning all of who they are. Let’s dive in. Hello, and welcome to what I can’t believe is the 100 and 11th. It’s hard to say that 111 episode of The quietly ambitious Podcast. Today I’m going to be talking about something that’s really present for me right now, I thought I would come on and share a bit about it because I know that it can bring up feelings for business owners feelings in terms of bothering people feelings in terms of is it going to work and feelings in terms of just altering your energy. I should also say that I’m recording this while my son is downstairs watching TV. So it’s going to be short and sweet. It may well be interrupted. But we’ll see how it goes. So let’s talk about selling lots of offers at once. And at the time of recording. And at the time this is released, I have been through a period of selling a lot of things at once. And I thought I’d talk about how I personally navigate that. The first thing I wanted to say is why would you even sell lots at once like, obviously, I mean, if you’ve been around in the marketing world for any length of time, you will have heard people, marketing experts say that confuse people don’t buy that. It’s much better to sell one thing at a time. This applies to like sending emails and only including one thing at a time in your emails. Whatever it is that you’re doing wherever it is that focusing your energy, don’t confuse people just sell one thing at a time. So why on earth would I be selling more than that? If that’s what all the experts say? Well, if you’ve been listening for a while, then I hope you’ll know that we don’t just do what all the experts say around here. It’s all about doing what feels right to you. And like first and foremost, like, I don’t believe that there is any one size fits all way of selling and marketing for any of us like if there was we would all be doing it. And for me, the way that I show up in my business, create my offers, put them out there create content is all based on how I feel kind of maximising whatever it is that I need to do to get in the right headspace and energy and then taking advantage of the flow when the flow is there. So sometimes I am just simply in a creative and visible and productive season. And I follow my flow. This is something I talked about more in my book, my book, I need to come and talk more about that in a future episode about the seasons that we all go through. And a lot of us will recognise the kind of nature cyclical nature of energy from like tracking or menstrual cycles and things like that. But basically, it’s really normal to have seasons when we are more creative, and coming up with more ideas and putting more things into motion. And then it’s really normal to have seasons where we don’t have any ideas or we don’t feel like putting anything to motion. So sometimes it’s just about riding the wave following the flow. And that, for me, feels good. Like if I want to do it now, then I get to do it all now. Now obviously, there’s a separate conversation we could be having about being really honest with yourself about your capacity and not taking on too much. But anyway, that’s a whole separate competence conversation, but long and short of it is sometimes it does feel good and right just follow the flow and sell loads of stuff at once. Sometimes, though, and this has been the case for me in this instance, is that you can have a plan, you can have a nice spacious plan and then maybe you end up taking a few weeks off because you get COVID You can’t focus for three weeks. So that is what happened to me and that is why I ended up pushing a lot of things together to sell together. Now, obviously I have a choice. I don’t have to sell everything together that I would have sold over a period of three extra weeks on top of the three weeks I’m currently selling, but I decided that I didn’t want to faff around anymore so again, this could be a whole topic for another episode and go and listen to my episode on pricing if you want to hear me talk more about this but I I wanted to raise the prices on my new one to one offer the evolution and I wanted to give people a chance to sign up early bird at the early bird price. I hadn’t really talked about it properly. I hadn’t If I hadn’t given it the attention, that I really wanted to give an IT to give an IT, okay, I’m gonna leave that in. But yeah, sometimes I mess up and I can’t be bothered to edit that out. So there you go raw and unfiltered anyway, I hadn’t given it the attention that wanted to give it. So I decided that instead of just raising the price silently, which is a totally valid thing to do, and I have done in the past, I wanted to give it a little push before I raise the price. So I ended up promoting that offer alongside my group programme rest and rise alongside my new programme metamorphosis. And

I’ve totally lost my train of thought. But basically, I think you get the gist about why I wanted to promote loads of things at once, like, I wanted to raise my price, but I wanted to give people a chance to buy these things first. So yeah, I could have pushed it back. But I just didn’t want to delay on any of those things anymore. I felt like I’d already pushed them back too much. And I just wanted to get them done. So I did tune in, I did, I questioned my own decision to sell stuff at once. I tuned in and I realised like I had actually a huge level of trust for myself there. Most of the stuff that I’m selling is stuff I know quite well, even though I have changed my offers a bit. And I just felt like you know, I’ve got what I need to do this, it doesn’t have to be massively complicated. So I came to an aligned and empowered decision just to sell it all at once. Now, the next question is, can it actually work. And I don’t have any specific numbers here. But I will say that some of my best months in business have been when I’ve been selling a lot of things at once. And I’ll share with you why I think that worked. But I remember, like, last year or the year before, like selling loads of stuff, sending out emails with loads of different offers. And it just being a case of I was creative and in the flow, and that’s how it was working. And it turned out to be my best month ever. So it can absolutely work. I’m not saying that there are times when I don’t think I’m not saying there aren’t times when I think that my emails aren’t a bit confused or a bit confusing. I’m obviously I’m struggling to get these sentences out right now. But I think you know, I mean, there are times when my emails are a bit confusing. I definitely am someone who struggles to say things in as few words as possible. I always say a lot more than I potentially need to. And that’s okay, you know, and I kind of just want to be honest about that. Like, I have an email marketing course. And I send really messy emails like we get to, we get to do this imperfectly, and teach people how to do it imperfectly as well. So yeah, there are probably times when my emails are a bit complicated. But I think and this is actually the next point that I want to get to I actually think that it gets to be clearer and it gets to be less complicated. If you start off from a place of being clearer in yourself. I think that the key to making it work has to be for you to start with a decision that you are okay. Firstly, like, you’re not just accidentally selling loads at once, because you don’t plan it out, just make a decision. Okay, I’m going to sell these actively at the same time, I’m going to decide that it gets to work. And I’m going to wholeheartedly show up. And I think that that part of it is really key. I’m not just going to half heartedly mentioned it in a PS of an email, that’s about something else. I mean, by all means do that as an extra, but decide that you’re wholeheartedly showing up everything. Don’t half heartedly show up thinking nothing’s gonna sell anyway. So I won’t really bother to put it out properly. So you’re showing up from a place of expecting that there are people out there interested in all of it? Does that mean all the people will be interested in all of it? No, it means there are people in your audience who are interested in various different offers. So the people who are interested in one thing will hone in on that thing, when you’re sending emails or promoting it in different ways that interested in the people who are interested in the other thing will hone in on that when you’re promoting it. That’s the space at which I like to come at this because just remember, whenever we’re selling anything, there’s only a tiny fraction of our audience who’s actually ready to buy it anyway, there are there’s a bigger, a larger, but still small fraction that is really interested and that just doesn’t decide to buy now, there’s also a fraction that’s just interested in reading it but knows that it’s not for them. And then there’s a fraction that will just ignore it doesn’t mean that they don’t care doesn’t mean that they find it annoying, doesn’t mean that they will never buy in the future but they choose to ignore like there are phases when people are going to a launch that I love what they do, but I will just so now click through their stories, delete their emails, doesn’t really mean anything. So what I’m trying to say is different people will be the right people for different offers at any given time. So even if you have several offers at once different people are going to be the right people for those offers. There are always right people out for all of your offers. That’s not to say that when you’re selling loads of things at once, you can necessarily too Talk about things as much as you want to, like, your attention, obviously is divided. And that brings me to my next point, which is basically to have as much of a plan as you can. Now I’m all for following your flow. I’m all for taking advantage of waves of energy. But I also do this alongside planning as much as I can in advance. And the bare minimum that I would do when I’m selling lots of at once is plan my emails.

As you know, if you’ve followed me for a while, if you’ve read the book, or if you’ve listened to the podcast for a while, email marketing is really the hub of all the ways in which I market myself and for me to get mentally on board, we then decide that it gets to work to sell lots of stuff at once, it’s really helpful for me to look at my emails, okay, I’ve got a period of two weeks here, where I’m selling three things, I’m going to email about this thing on that day, this thing on that day, or all three things on that day, it doesn’t have to be more complicated than that, it just has to be enough that you know, that you’re giving each thing a what’s the word, like a proper go? proper level of visibility. So like I said, not just including it in a random PS, but you’re giving each offer the visibility it deserves. And you don’t necessarily have to send loads and loads of emails about each single thing. But just knowing that you’re really being intentional about each thing, I think is very, very helpful. And email marketing, for me is my marketing method of choice. But your mileage may vary, and that’s fine. And then the last thing I wanted to say, because I really do want to keep this episode short and sweet. The last thing I wanted to say is just be willing and open and curious to work through the stories as they come up. So as I’m recording this, I’m literally like slap bang in the middle is that the phrase of, of me selling lots of things at once, and I do have stories come up, I do have moments where I think this isn’t gonna work, or I’ve made a mess of this, or I’m confusing people or haven’t given anything the weight that it deserves. And I have approached it with complete compassion and curiosity the whole time, and ask myself, what’s this thought trying to tell me? What might I be afraid of here? What else could be true here. And let me tell you, the more curious you can be about this stuff, the easier it is to detach from your thoughts. And when you can detach from your thoughts, you can look for the golden nugget. So sometimes there’s actually something very valuable in a fear based thought that you can act on or change. And sometimes you get to just figure out what else might be true and choose to act in alignment with that thought instead. And something that’s been really supporting me is talking to my coach as things come up. Literally just sharing the thoughts on Voxer voice notes as they come up. By the way, I’ve got a new one to one package, which is based on Voxer coaching and voice notes. That’s one option of the evolution if you’re interested in working together, just as a side note, and by the way, this is a way that you get to sell when you’re selling loads of things at once you get to do it really subtly. And just bring it up when it naturally comes up, right. Anyway, where was I? Yes, I work through the stories with curiosity and compassion by speaking to my coach, and doing a lot of journaling. So my journaling will literally look like

why do I feel uncomfortable about selling more than one thing today? Or why do I feel uncomfortable about this email I sent out, you know, literally asking myself really direct questions specifically about the feelings that are coming up. So that would be my best advice, just being really curious, compassionate. And you know what? Something that I didn’t write down in my notes. But I really want to say here, if you can treat this as an experiment, so maybe you haven’t sold all these things together at once. Maybe you have sold lots of stuff together at once. But you haven’t solved these kinds of things together once? Can you just treat it as an experiment and see how it goes? Can you be open to the fact that no matter what happens, firstly, you’re brilliant and worthy as a human being and nothing can change that. Secondly, can you trust that you will learn and everything will work out as it is meant to even if you can’t see that now, because if you can trust that there’s a lesson in everything, you can give yourself permission to do things differently. And when you give yourself permission to do things differently and experiment, you learn new things about the way that you work best. So that is certainly the mindset that I’ve been in. It might not be my best strategic decision ever. Or maybe it will be I just need to give myself a chance to figure that out to see how it feels and to see what the results are. So yeah, that mindset of experimentation is really, really important too. And then I guess the other thing I wanted to add that I forgot to add to my notes as well was just bringing stuff up when you are when you have set the intention that you’re selling certain things at once. Part of it is about making that plan and do doing this, you know, doing specific emails about the offers and stuff. And then part of it is just that it’s in your brain that you know, okay, I’m selling my one to one and I’m selling my metamorphosis course at the same time. So therefore, I’m just going to bring it in whenever it comes up naturally. So like I just did a couple of minutes ago, right? When I talked about the fact that my new one to one offer the evolution has a Voxer coaching offer. Or maybe I could be sharing you know what, I missed an opportunity here. Because when I talked about being curious, and detaching from the stories, I could have said, you know, that’s something that we’re going to talk about how that actually works, how do you actually get to a place of curiosity and detachment in the metamorphosis? Course, right? So this is an example of selling. I didn’t come on here directly to sell either of those things. But I talked about stuff that was related to both of those things. And therefore I get to tell you, I have a course called metamorphosis that is starting on the fifth of August, and you can sign up now. Go to Ruth poundwhite.com, forward slash metamorphosis and read more about it. If that might be for you. It’s basically a whole mindset shift. And like I said, really plays into that stuff about detaching from thoughts. But yeah, that’s how you do it. If you’ve got the intention that you’re selling certain things, you you, your brain is more likely to see the opportunities that you have to bring those things up when they naturally tie in to whatever else you’re doing. So that is my that they are my thoughts on selling lots of things at once, setting the intention deciding that it gets to work, making a plan, giving each offer a proper go, working through the stories as they come up, subtly bringing in your offers, when it makes sense to. And there was one more thing, I think there was one more thing, but you’ll have to go back and listen, because I forgotten what I said. So there you go. You can absolutely sell lots of stuff at once be willing to experiment that was probably the other thing, experimentation, but willing to experiment, see how it goes, it could just be your best decision ever. Just because all the marketing experts say you shouldn’t do it doesn’t mean it’s not sometimes right for you to do. Personally, we’re all individuals, we all get to make our own rules in business. So yeah, I hope that helped. I hope that maybe gave you some permission that you needed. And if you want to work together more closely, then my new offer, the evolution is out there, there is a Voxer only option and a option with calls. So you can choose the level of support that that works best for you. And my programme metamorphosis is starting soon. It’s going to be amazing. And it’s going to really build a very strong foundation of self trust so that you can make empowered decisions about what to do next in your business that will have a tangible impact on your income, your impact, your fulfilment, and all of that stuff. So go to Ruth poundwhite.com To find out more about all of that stuff. And yeah, the podcast is back.
