When is it all going to happen? And why is it taking so long? It is a question we all ask ourselves at various points in our businesses. So here’s what I want you to ask yourself instead, when the question of how long is it going to take comes up for you. You’re listening to quietly ambitious with conversations about how it really feels to build a business that honours your whole self unapologetically. And that includes who you are, how you feel, what you really desire, the impact that you want to create, and importantly, the money you want to make. I’m your host, Ruth Poundwhite. And my superpower is supporting sensitive and ambitious humans to make more money by fully expressing and owning all of who they are. Let’s dive in. Hi, and welcome to another episode of The quietly ambitious podcast. So just before we dive in, I want to let you know a couple of things. First thing is there is likely going to be a little bit of a break in the podcast after this because I am away for a few weeks, which I will talk about more some other time. And secondly, what I’m about to share with you today was originally recorded as a live and I’ve repurposed it for the podcast. So just so you know, those are the like mistakes where it sounds a little bit different. That is why. So I’m going to be talking about what to do when you feel like things are happening too slowly. And in my experience, this is something that we come up against at all stages of business. So I hope you find it useful. And if you have any takeaways or our has, send me a DM on Instagram at Ruth Poundwhite. And enjoy. Today, I just wanted to talk about that feeling of why is it happening so slowly? Why isn’t it happening quicker. And I just want to say this can come up at all stages of business. So obviously, it comes up at the beginning stage, when you have you’re not seeing anything happening yet. But it can come up when you see in a little bit of momentum. It can even come up when you’re seeing a lot of momentum, but you want to take it in a new direction you want to reach a new level. Trust me when I say even when you’re at the level that past you would have been grateful for they’re still normally a part of you going, why is it happening so slowly? Why isn’t it happening more? Why isn’t it easier? All of that stuff, right? And here’s what I want to say about it. The first thing is, Am I doing this? Am I going to make this work no matter? What have I decided I’m making this work? And when I say no matter what I don’t mean, like at the expense of all the things like your health and all that. But I mean, am I eventually going to make this work? Have I decided I’m making this work? Have I decided I’m building my business in the way that I have chosen it to be? If the answer is yes, then the question of how long it takes, suddenly holds less weight, right? Because I’ve decided I’m doing it. So I’m doing it, it takes the second guessing a bit out of the equation. So that’s the first thing I have I decided I’m doing this, am I making this happen? Is that my decision? Can I not do this? If you can not do this, then maybe there’s an alternative route you can explore. Like, maybe I could get a different job, maybe I could do something else. Maybe that’s worth exploring. It’s not for everyone. But for me, the thing that always came up for me, especially when I was frustrated trying to get it going was can I not do this? And the answer was always no, I can’t not do this, I have to do this. Okay, so that’s the first thing. Second thing is, if you knew it was happening, imagine the time in the future when it’s happened when whatever you’re looking at now is a reality because it will be at some point in the future. You just don’t know when? How would that change how you currently feel about the timing now? Would it still be not quick enough? Or would it be the journey is your journey? And I think it’s like I said very natural to question the timing, very natural to ask like why can’t it happen quicker? And at the same time? Can you take on a mindset that the journey is your journey for a reason? I know personally for me, I spent so long in this business. So in my last business I spelt spent so long trying to get it above like minimum wage. And when it did, it was like wow, I’ve learned so much it all makes sense. Like I needed all those foundations. Like the benefit of hindsight is massive, right? I could look back at the stuff I did all the all the light work in a way in the early stages for little money. And I could see that those foundations were actually building the thing I just didn’t know that they were paying off yet. So having that benefit of having built my first business definitely helped me in this business. But I remember in this business being so focused for so long on 5k months, 5k months, 5k months, they were like everything to me. And then at some point it happens and at some point I’m looking to the next goal, and at some point that next goal happens at some point I’m looking to the next goal.

So I guess where I’m going with this is is that there’s always a next level that we’re waiting to have. But it’s also important to remember the milestones along the way. And sometimes the milestones aren’t in terms of money or the results that you think they are. But they’re the learnings, the people you’re speaking to along the way, the things you’re learning about what you don’t want the things that are preparing you for what comes with the success that you’re looking for. So for example, like running a challenge, like the one I’ve been doing now, this free mini course, this is like the biggest one I’ve done. When I first did one, I was probably asking myself, why can’t more people join? Why can’t it be more easy, and you know, what, every single time I’ve showed up and done a live thing to a certain amount of people has prepared me for doing it to the next level of the amount of people. So like, every time I’ve earned a certain amount of money has prepared me for the next level. So I hope that that’s making sense. But basically, the two ways to look at it, I think, are number one, can I not do this? Have I decided that I’m doing this? In which case the question of time, as frustrating as it may be? You don’t want to let it get in the way. And number two, once this is all said and done, once it’s all happened, how would I look back on this now? Would it change the way I’m perceiving the time of it now. So I hope that was helpful. Just know that it will show up at all areas of business, which is why I am a huge fan of celebrating how far you’ve come helps you to see those lessons that you’ve been learning along the way as well. And please get in touch. If you’re thinking about working with me and rest and rise, I will certainly help you to recode these thoughts as they come up along the way and get you back to a place of momentum, like I’ve said in the daily lives. Momentum is where it’s at momentum is what helps you build it up over time. And the problem with thoughts like is it happening quickly enough is that they can stall that momentum, they can take you back to pausing, they can take you back to questioning everything that can stall the momentum. So my job as a coach is definitely to keep you in a place of momentum. And obviously, in terms of timing, I can’t make any any guarantees that working together is going to make it go more quickly for you. But I can guarantee that I will support you in getting back to that place of momentum. And I can also say that you’re going to have all the tools to help you make the decisions to help you figure out the strategies along the way, which hopefully will collapse how long it takes you, especially the mindset stuff as well will collapse how long it takes you. I can’t make any guarantees, but I can support you and do everything we can throwing everything at it to make it happen in a way that feels good to you and for you to learn the exact right lessons along the way.
