One of my members had her sales page live before she’d finished watching the training. She’d been telling herself she needed to build another whole workbook first, and it turned out she needed about three minutes and a decision.
Every month inside the Soulful Sales Society membership, we run a themed Get It Done Week: a focused challenge to help members implement the things that make sales happen with less effort and less constant showing up. August’s was Micro Offer Magic. A micro offer is a small paid thing, usually under $100, with one defined outcome that’s genuinely useful on its own and also a step towards your bigger work. Members spent the week choosing one, pricing it, and getting somewhere for people to actually buy it.
Why a Small Paid Thing Tells You More Than a Freebie Ever Will
It’s fairly easy to get free leads through collaborations, bundles or ads. It’s much harder to know whether any of those people will ever pay you, and plenty of them aren’t ready for your biggest offer yet, so they hover on your list with nothing to say yes to. When someone pays you $19, they’re telling you which of your angles made sense to them. I once put a live call audit tool out and exactly one person bought it. I know that thing is useful. What I didn’t know until I sold it was how badly I’d communicated why.
I want to be honest about the ceiling though. It takes hundreds or thousands of sales to make a decent monthly income at these prices, so please don’t build your whole year on one. Its job is smaller and more specific: turning interested people into buyers, and buyers into people who trust you enough to go further. One of my own $27 workshops eventually became a course selling for over $200.
What These Micro Offer Examples Have in Common
Every one of them promises one thing, rather than everything the member happens to know about their subject. That boundary is what makes an offer quick to create, quick to finish, and easy to describe. If the thing you’re describing feels like it should really cost a lot more, you’ve probably drifted past the edge of a micro offer and accidentally started building something else.
Here’s what my members did during the week:
- Ran every idea through one filter: is this a small step towards my bigger offer, and can it be delivered in an hour or a day?
- Raided what they’d already created instead of starting from a blank page. Old workshops, past freebies, material they’d been teaching for years.
- Chose a price between $9 and $99, then sat with it long enough to notice whether any part of them felt resentful about it.
- Got a place to buy it live before the deadline, even where the offer itself wasn’t finished. Pre-selling was allowed, and it gives you a deadline.
To celebrate my members taking action, I’m sharing some of their offers with you below. Go check them out, they’re all great!
Feedback for the Get It Done Week
“Before watching this training on micro-offer, I believed I’d have to create (yet another) workbook and that it would take me ages. Three minutes in, I already had an idea and I ran with it while watching the rest of the training. I haven’t yet finished watching and my page is up and running. Ruth’s capacity to make things easy is that good!” ~ Jessica Tefenkgi Ruelle
